Ever thought of doing an OOC ask blog based on the characters? Like people ask the characters from the comic questions, and they would answer? Like I would say to Henrietta that if she added cream (dairy or non dairy) and some hot coco mix to coffee that it will make dealing with coffee a LOT better? I mean granted the characters should not answer every question OR even answer questions that would be spoilers.
To be honest.. a little? But I haven’t really felt like doing it, mainly because it’s just extra work for the comic I have to do on top of all that and i’d be a little more stressed trying to juggle that with writing and drawing ^^;
May I ask what inspired you to draw Henrietta in the first place?
To be honest, it might have been MLP u.u (which I haven’t been keeping up with lately but I’m kinda shocked that they’re going to be on season 7???)
I liked how Faust wrote female characters and made them non-stereotypical, even if they have certain personality traits they still seem…human, basically, like mostly believable.
So I kinda wanted to do the same so I made a Lamb comic based off a stuffed animal I have from the 80s (though it’s embarrassing how way too similar of a MLP pony Lamb looked like when I first drew her, heh..) and I wanted to write characters in the same style but go one step beyond? To make it slightly more mature i guess
I started to learn how to draw! (I don't have any pics on Tumblr yet) However my Fiance is an artist and I'm the writer. I wanted to learn how to draw because she hates drawing buildings etc. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how we can have people follow the comic? Should I create a brand new tumblr just for that comic? It's already posted on DA and on Tapastic. I think Tumblr will be another good place for it, what do you think?
I would say that a safer bet to probably make a secondary blog for the comic, it never hurts to branch out a little, that’s what I’m trying to do with Twitter, it allows different people to discover your comic and read it on the site they visit the most, I know people who read my comic on DA who never visit tumblr at all :P
And don’t be afraid to say “hey, I have a tumblr for the comic now if you want to read it there!” type of post on DA or Tapastic (if you can on tapastic, I’m unfamiliar with the site)
How did you get this idea of making a love story with those? Is just sooo cute seeing those 2! It gives me hope for love <3 I really love all your work and i love and enjoy reading the comic very very much! Love ya for that!
To be very honest they just started out as simple friends when I first created them, but the more I drew them together the more i thought they were cute together :P
But also like, have their development in getting closer together sliiightly more realistic or believable, since like so many other romances are just forced or seriously rushed (like Disney or blockbusters), and like, I actually hate that, it’s easy to say “I love you” but honestly: show, don’t tell, make sure they actually have reasons to like each other, that’s what I wanna do with them !
Why did you make Sweet a skunk and Henrietta a cute little lamb?
Henrietta was based off a Lamb plush toy I had as a kid, and Sweet because I wanted to make a pretty skunk character that kind of went against the cartoonish stereotypes surrounding them !
Have you seen the Berserk manga? The art itself is breathtaking and the story is set in one of the deepest medieval fantasy worlds I have read! The first few chapters do a good job of setting the tone for Guts and Berserk, but once you get through that into Guts' backstory, the Golden Age arc, It really comes alive! just a word of warning, it is quite gory and has lots of sexual violence, and I can't quite recommend it without mentioning that. Definitely worth reading, at least to see the art!
I’ve certainly seen the artwork of it, which is super detailed and gorgeous in some parts, certainly, and ooh yeah, I do know there’s a whole lot of the story that takes place after the Golden Age Arc, I hope to get into that too
And I’m definitely aware of the gruesome content, despite the cutesy nature I put out on this blog seeing anime or manga that contains that is not foreign to me so I’ll be alright :P I do love the setting though, I’ve never really been interested in fantasy medieval stuff at all despite people going ga-ga over GoT and LotR, but Berserk actually makes it interesting for me…
Truth be told I haven’t finished the original 1997 anime (I’m currently on like, ep 6/7?), but seeing how it’s turning 20 this year I may just have to finish it (and maybe catch up on the manga afterwords) I was super intrigued by the world as well as the character dynamics, and the soundtrack oh GOD is it awesome
Dear if I might ask what program do you use to make your art? I am making my own little character and trying to draw her the best I can online.
I use Manga Studio (It’s also called ‘Clip Paint Studio’ for some reason) and Photoshop, but mainly Manga Studio when doing Lamb!
Manga Studio is fantastic for lineart, it’s easy to edit how brushes should move and you can make a brush real razor thin to have precise detail (Not easy to do on PS) and it’s nice and (in my opinion) a little easier to color images on there thanks to some layer settings.
Photoshop however is great for making custom brushes, and even a little greater for making photorealistic art, if that’s what you’re going for. I’m using it more for backgrounds now more than anything.
