fearingfun asked: And I hope you feel better soon. There are plenty who'd be willing to listen if there's anything you need off your back. Myself included. ^^

Thank you, one of these days I might do a giant vent post. I just hate all this confusion and sadness I’m feeling and I need to let something out…

Still here.

Just want to let you know I’m still around and haven’t stopped updating.

I’m sorry for being lame by not making something winter-like. I’ll make it sometime, and I’ll upload it late, I don’t care.

And I’m also sorry for not updating for a while, I haven’t been feeling well lately, not like sick, or anything, just…sad.
And plus, christmas stuff, you know. Makes me kind of busy.

Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season.

Anonymous asked: What is the inspiration for Ms. Lamb and Sweet Scent?

The main inspiration for Lamb? Well, she’s actually based off a real stuffed animal I’ve had since I was a toddler. I just got bored one day and decided to sketch her and boom: the character was born. image

And personality wise, the biggest inspiration for Lamb was Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of NIMH, one of my favorite protagonists ever.

For Sweet Scent, design-wise I based her off numerous skunks: Mainly Flower from Bambi, Fifi La Fume from Tiny Toons, and of course Pepe Le Pew.

Personality-wise: I based her off of quiet, sad characters, mainly Eeyore and Fluttershy.

Part 2.

It’s about to go down…

altenis asked: Mod question: I've seen your art and wanted to know. How do you do your magnificent shading?

I’d be happy to tell!

image

First I’ll choose a picture to shade.

image

Then I go to my swatches and select a color, my shading colors are circled in yellow. Choose any color that you want or one that best matches the picture.

image

Create a new layer. Then set the mode to multiply

image

Draw on the area that you want shade to be in.

image

Now, I think the shading is too dark, so I’ll bring the opacity down.

image

Much better, but the shading isn’t as lively or colorful as I wanted it to be.

image

That’s an easy fix, however. Go to Image<Adjustments<Hue/Saturation. Since the shading is on it’s own layer, you don’t need to select it or anything like that.

image

Now just mess around and see what works! All I did was just change the hue and increased the saturation.

AND, as an extra, I’ll show you lighting, since I do that with Sweet Scent’s fur.

image

Similar to before, create a new layer, except this time, set it to linear dodge.

image

Draw on the areas you want light to hit. Maybe bring down the opacity if you want, and you’re done!

I hope that was helpful! Now, I am a Photoshop user, but I’m sure this technique might work on Paint Tool SAI, but I haven’t used it before.. And I know it should work on GIMP as well.

Happy painting!

Heavy stuff, man.

Also Sweet Scent is more difficult to draw than I thought, sketching time…

AUGH, forgot to put in the asks that inspired this update.

Sorry guys!
